The administration, along with the Winter Games Association of Uttarakhand, is busy preparing for the Winter National Games 2026 and Auli Carnival to be held in Auli. The association has released the schedule of the games and is in constant contact with the state teams. It has been reported that teams from 14 states, including the Army, ITBP, and CRPF, have formally confirmed their participation in the National Games.
For the Winter Games, the slopes are being prepared at the Nanda Devi slope and the old ski slope near Tower Number 10. Ajay Bhatt, Joint Secretary of the Winter Games Association, said that teams from across the country will arrive in Auli on February 12th to participate in the competition. The opening ceremony of the games will be held in Auli on February 13th at 10:00 AM, along with cultural programs.
On the opening day, players will participate in fun skiing and a skiing demonstration. A national-level Joint Slalom competition will be held. On February 14th, the Slalom race will take place, followed by snowshoeing and ski mountaineering events on February 15th. On February 16th, medals and certificates will be awarded to the top-performing athletes in the National Games.
District Magistrate Issues Instructions to Officials
A meeting was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar to review the preparations for the Winter Carnival and National Skiing Championship in Auli. During the meeting, the District Magistrate gave necessary instructions to the officials for the grand and successful organization of the event. He instructed the officials to complete all arrangements, including accommodation, drinking water, electricity, and roads, on time.
He also instructed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Joshimath to conduct a site inspection of the venue and the helipad, and to hold a meeting with local hotel owners to ensure adequate accommodation arrangements. He also directed the BRO officials to complete all arrangements to ensure smooth traffic flow during the event. He instructed the police officials to plan for smooth traffic management and make robust security arrangements for the event.
