Forest department to develop Corbett trails in Champawat

To realize the vision of CM Pushkar Dhami’s ideal Champawat, the Forest Department will develop six Corbett trails. With this, along with giving Champawat a new identity as a tourist destination, work will be done to increase employment and enrich the livelihood of the local people.

Chief Forest Conservator (CCF) Kumaon Dr. Dheeraj Pandey, who visited Champawat on Saturday, gave this information in the DFO office. CCF Dr. Pandey said that Jim Corbett had a special connection with Champawat. During his stay in Champawat from 1907 to 1947, the head hunter Corbett had killed many man-eating tigers and got rid of their terror.

Nature guides will be prepared for bird watching

Corbett’s visiting places are being developed as six trails. The future plan of the Forest Department is to build home stays in the villages around the trail. Nature guides will be prepared for bird watching. Recently the first team has been trained. The third plan is to increase heritage tourism.

Rajbunga Fort, Banasura Fort, Abbot Mount, Baleshwar Temple etc. are known as heritage in Champawat. The Forest and Tourism departments will give concrete shape to this scheme in mutual coordination. The implementing agency PWD is preparing the DPR of the scheme. CCF held a meeting with the officials of Forest Department and Tourism and reviewed the preparations made so far.
