Fuel tanker catches fire in Dehradun

A major fire was accident in Dehradun’s Premnagar on Friday. A fire broke out in a cabin of a tanker carrying around 14 thousand liters of fuel. First the driver tried to control the fire. After some time, the fire brigade and ONGC fire team brought the fire under control. The fire was extinguished before it reached the tanker containing the fuel. Due to this, a major accident was avoided there. There was panic among the passers-by after seeing the tanker on fire. Traffic was also stopped.

The incident occurred around 3 pm on Friday. A petrol tanker was going from Premnagar towards Jhajhra. Meanwhile, smoke started coming out from the cabin of the tanker. Seeing this, the tanker driver jumped out of the cabin and started spraying foam with a small fire extinguisher. But, the fire engulfed the cabin.

After some time, Fire Station Dehradun and ONGC fire fighting team also reached there. Two vehicles from both the teams extinguished the fire in the cabin. There was a crowd of vehicles there at the time of the incident. There was panic among the people.

Police reached the spot and cleared the traffic jam there. The tanker was filled with 14 thousand liters of petrol which was being taken to the petrol pump located in Jhajhra. If the fire had reached the tanker, a major accident would have occurred there. The cause of the fire is said to be sparking in the battery wires. The tanker has been parked on the roadside. Fire brigade experts are investigating the cause of the fire.
