Schools in Dehradun to remain closed on September 18

In view of the heavy rains that have been continuing since last night and the red alert issued by the Meteorological Department, the Dehradun District Administration has declared a holiday for all schools in the district on Wednesday, September 18, 2025. The order was issued by the District Disaster Management Authority, Dehradun, at 1:30 am on Thursday.
According to the administration, as per the alert issued by the National Disaster Warning Portal, heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are expected at many places in Dehradun. In view of this, it has been decided to close all government, non-government, private, and Anganwadi centers operating from classes 1 to 12 in the district.

This order applies not only to students but also to teachers and other school staff.
District Magistrate and Chairman of the Disaster Management Authority, Savin Bansal, has directed all departments to ensure compliance with this order. Furthermore, people have been urged to take necessary precautions and avoid unnecessary outings in view of the severe weather.
