Temperature in Dehradun nears all time high

Monsoon has not yet arrived in Uttarakhand. Pre-monsoon rains are also not happening, due to which there is intense heat. In Dehradun, the mercury has crossed 43 degrees for the third time this season. Hot winds have been scorching people continuously since May except for a few days.

On Monday, the maximum temperature of Doon was 43.1 degrees, an increase of nine degrees from normal. Earlier, on June 4, 1902, the maximum temperature was 43.9 degrees, which is an all-time record till now.

Meteorologists are also attributing this intense form of heat to the absence of pre-monsoon rains. Scientists say that due to the decline in pre-monsoon rains and climate change, there is intense heat from the plains to the mountains. This is the reason why hot winds are scorching people during the day as well as at night.

This season, the heat of Uttarakhand has made new records many times. The series of record-breaking heat continued on Monday as well. While in May itself, the mercury of Doon has reached 43 twice. Earlier, on May 14, the maximum temperature of Doon had reached 43.
