Water demand rises in Doon as temperatures soar

Amid rising mercury, the demand for water has reached its peak at this time. In comparison, there is not enough supply. Jal Sansthan claims that it is issuing challans to those who waste water every day.

Dehradun requires 276 MLD water daily. In comparison, it is able to provide only 241 MLD water to the people. Water is decreasing in the sources located in the foothills of Mussoorie. According to the report of Jal Sansthan, water availability has decreased by 60 percent in the last five years.

Galogi, Kolhukhet, Shikhar Fall, Makdait, Kailaghat, Talani Ghat, Karliguard and Judkhala sources together have been designed for a capacity of 20115 liters per minute. While nowadays, only 7874 liters of water per minute is available at these sources.
