Monsoon retreats from Uttarakhand; 22 percent more rains in 2025

The monsoon, which had been a constant disaster for a long time, finally departed the state on Friday. The Dehradun Meteorological Department announced its departure. The state recorded 22 percent more rainfall than normal in monsoon season 2025.

C.S. Tomar, Director of the Dehradun Meteorological Department, stated that this year, all districts recorded an average rainfall of 1412 mm, which was 22 percent more than the normal monsoon rainfall. Bageshwar and Chamoli districts received the highest rainfall, with over 60 percent of the rainfall recorded.

Pauri Garhwal was the district with the lowest rainfall, recording a 30 percent decrease. Dehradun received above-normal rainfall, recording 1972 mm of rainfall. Tehri, Haridwar, and Almora received above-normal rainfall, with these three districts recording 20 percent more rainfall than normal.

In other districts of the state, the monsoon rains were near normal. Meanwhile, the weather in the lake city remained normal on Friday, with sunshine throughout the day. According to GIC Meteorological Centre, the maximum temperature was 28 and minimum was 18 degree Celsius.
