Flipkart has launched a new credit service for its customers called ‘Flipkart Pay Later’. The name itself hints at the benefits it offers. The company announced this new feature via a blog post on Thursday.
Customers can avail of this feature not only on Flipkart but also on Myntra and Flipkart Minutes. It helps alleviate the immediate financial pressure of making payments while shopping on these platforms. Flipkart developed this service in collaboration with PayU Finance, the NBFC arm of PayU.

How Flipkart Pay Later Works
This new service offers customers three types of repayment options:
First – Pay Later Option:
Payments for everyday purchases can be settled within 30 days.
Second – Pay in 3:
The bill can be split into three easy installments.
Third – EMI Plan:
This option allows customers to set up installments ranging from 3 to 12 months for high-value items like smartphones, electronics, home appliances, and furniture.
This EMI facility also applies to smaller purchases across categories such as Flipkart Minutes, fashion, and beauty. This third option is a standout feature of the new service.
It is worth noting that Flipkart already offers various payment options, including UPI, wallets, credit/debit cards, net banking, Cash on Delivery, and gift cards. The addition of the ‘Pay Later’ service provides customers with yet another convenient choice. It could prove particularly beneficial for those who often postpone purchases due to budget constraints.
New Feature Launched Just Before the Freedom Sale
Notably, Flipkart has launched this service just days before its annual ‘Freedom Sale’. The Flipkart Freedom Sale begins on August 8, though for Flipkart Plus and Black members, it will start 24 hours earlier—at midnight on August 7.
There is no information yet regarding when the sale will end. Over the past few years, e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Amazon have established a pattern of not announcing the sale’s end date in advance; if the sale performs well, the company keeps it running for several additional days.
During this Freedom Sale, customers will receive a 10% instant discount when paying with an SBI credit card. Additionally, Flipkart has introduced a new option for customers by launching its ‘Pay Later’ feature, a move that could prove beneficial for the company.
