19th National Ice Skating Championship inaugurated

The 19th National Ice Skating Competition organized under the aegis of Ice Skating Association of India was inaugurated in Gurugram on Wednesday, August 14. On this occasion, the Special Secretary of Sports and Youth Welfare of Uttarakhand Government, Amit Sinha and President Ice Skating Association of India, Amitabh Sharma, were present. Sports Secretary Sinha encouraged all the players. He wished all the players a bright future.

Six players from Uttarakhand are participating in this event. Three male players namely Ayush Jagudi, Amitabh Singh, Yashasvi Singh and three female players namely Tanishka Singh, Arpoova Singh and Harshita Rawatani were sent by the Ice Skating Association of Uttarakhand to participate in the competition in various categories of men and women in the 19th National Ice Skating Competition to be held from 14th to 17th August. In the ice skating competitions, players from all over the country will show their skills in various age group competitions of figure skating and speed skating. With a view to improve the national competitions in the country, before this year’s competition, all the players participating from different states of the country will be introduced to the intricacies of the rules set for the competition by the International Skating Union by the country’s only female national judge of figure skating, international skater and coach Nishtha Panuli along with international level coaches Ishita Kapoor and Natalie Polsgraf.

In the 19th national competition, pre-juvenile, juvenile and pre-novice men and women will participate in the open category of figure skating. In the ISU category, basic novice, intermediate novice, junior and senior men and women will secure their medals. In speed skating, only in the short track competition, men and women will try to win medals by playing in their age group.
