All accused given clean chit in Ayodhya demolition case
The much awaited decision of the special CBI court came on Wednesday in the Ayodhya demolition case which changed the political direction of the country. SK Yadav, the special judge of this trial which has been going on for 28 years, acquitted all the accused including LK Advani, Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Kalyan Singh while giving the final verdict of their tenure. The special judge said that the Ayodhya demolition was not pre-planned. There is no strong evidence of the incident.
The decision is about 2000 pages. The decision will be uploaded on the court website shortly. The lawyers of the CBI and the accused have filed a written debate of about eight and a half pages. Apart from this, 351 witnesses were examined by the CBI before the court and presented more than 600 documents.
A special court of Judge Surendra Kumar Yadav pronounced his verdict after 28 years in the criminal case of demolishing the disputed structure in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992. The judge read the verdict stating that the demolition was not a pre-planned but an accidental event. The special court has acquitted LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi and Kalyan Singh all the accused.
In this case, 49 people have been accused. Of this, 17 have died. Lawyers for the CBI and the accused have filed a written debate of about eight hundred pages. Earlier, CBI has produced 351 witnesses and more than 600 documentary evidence.
