Cloud burst in Uttarkashi district, Yamunotri highway disrupted
Last night, a cloud burst occurred near Silai Band between Paligad Ojri Dabarkot on Yamunotri Highway. About nine workers are reported missing due to the cloud burst. While Yamunotri Highway was closed. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the police-administration, SDRF team reached the spot and started searching for the missing people.
It has been raining continuously for the last two-three days in the district headquarters. At the same time, there is information of heavy rainfall/cloud burst near Silai Band of Tehsil Barkot late at night. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the team of SDRF, Police and Revenue Department left for the spot. It is being told that the missing workers were living there by putting up tents and were working on the road.
The rescue team has started a search operation on the spot. Meanwhile, the Yamunotri National Highway has been disrupted at two-three places near Silai Band, regarding which information has been given to NH Badkot. At present, the situation in Kuthnaur is normal, there has been no loss of life or animal loss.
Due to continuous rain in Uttarakhand the rivers and streams are in spate and many connecting roads are constantly being obstructed due to falling debris and boulders.
