New air services to Noida, Jaipur and Dehradun will start from March 30 for Gaggal Airport in Himachal Pradesh. These new air services will connect Gaggal Airport in Kangra to Noida, Jaipur and Dehradun airports. Currently, Gaggal Airport connects Dharamshala to Delhi, Chandigarh and Shimla. Of the three new routes, operations from Jewar Airport are expected to start by April 2025.
Gaggal Airport Director Dhirendra Singh said that we are expanding our operations to meet the demand of passengers. Operations will be done in two shifts from March 30. This will make uninterrupted flights possible from sunrise to sunset. Currently, six flights operate from the airport every day. This is expected to increase to 10 in the summer months.
Efforts are underway to increase the number of staff as well as strengthen security arrangements for evening services. Gaggal Airport Director Dhirendra Singh also shared plans to expand the airport so that larger aircraft like Airbus 320 and Boeing models can be allowed to land there.
This upgrade will facilitate connectivity to metro cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Ahmedabad in the coming days. This will reduce travel costs. It is worth mentioning that there has been a long-standing demand to connect the airport to Buddhist pilgrimage sites like Amritsar and Bodh Gaya in Bihar. Recently, Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama also advocated connecting Gaggal Airport to other Buddhist sites.
