Doctors across the country on strike in protest against murder of female doctor in Kolkata

Recently, a female trainee doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The police is said to have arrested the accused. Today, doctors have called for a strike across the country against the murder of the female doctor after the brutality. Also, the Resident Doctors Association of all government hospitals has also called for joining this strike.

Elective surgery and lab work stopped

A candle march will be held at JJ Hospital in Mumbai at 6 pm today. OPD will remain open in all hospitals of Mumbai. During the doctors’ strike, elective surgery and lab work will be stopped. Many government hospitals of Delhi issued an official statement on Sunday and announced the closure of outpatient department, operation room and ward duty from Monday morning. The fire of anger has spread from Kolkata to Delhi over the brutality with the female doctor. Due to this, the doctors’ association has decided to go on strike on Monday.

The police have arrested the main accused in this case but the doctors are not satisfied with the police investigation. Doctors say that by arresting one accused, some big conspiracy is being suppressed. Doctors are demanding a CBI inquiry and a fast track court in the case.

BJP demands a CBI inquiry

Meanwhile, Bengal BJP President Sukanto Majumdar has written a letter to the Union Health Minister requesting a CBI inquiry into the case as well as sending a team of the Medical Council of India to visit all the medical colleges of Bengal.
