Major decisions of Union cabinet on 27 April

Many important decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, April 27. Giving information about the decisions taken in the meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the cabinet has given its approval to the proposal to build a hydro project in Jammu and Kashmir.

The 540 MW Kawar Hydro Project will be built on the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir. The Union Minister said that Rs 23,000 crore will be spent on this project. The construction of this project will also provide employment to the local people. Apart from this, many important decisions have been taken in Wednesday’s meeting. The Union Minister said that in the cabinet meeting, it has been decided to give financial support of Rs 820 crore to India Post Payments Bank.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the PM Street Vendor Self-Reliant Fund (PM Swanidhi) will now be extended till December 2024. Under this, the government provides loans to street vendors at a subsidy of seven percent. He said that the vending zones have been increased from 5800 to 10,500. ‘We aim to benefit 40 lakh vendors by 2024. So far 16.7 lakh beneficiaries have benefited from various schemes under the Svanidhi Se Samridhi Yojana.’

Talking about other decisions, 2542 towers in ten states will be upgraded from 2G to 4G. These towers are in ten states of the country. All these will be upgraded and operated by BSNL itself. Apart from this, it was told by the government that an allocation of Rs 2426 crore has been made for them. Apart from this, the government has approved to increase the P&K fertilizer subsidy and has also decided to give an additional subsidy of Rs 60,939 crore.
