University teacher retirement age in UP to be increased to 65 years soon

The retired age of university teachers in the Uttar Pradesh is all set to be increased to 65 years. So far the teachers retire at 62 years. The proposal has been forwarded to the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath by the Higher Education Department. Soon teachers can get a gift from the government.

The retired age of teachers in the universities of Central Universities and several other states is already 65 years. In such a case, it has to be extended in UP too. Retirement age of teachers of higher educational institutions was increased in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh a few years ago and in the last year in West Bengal and Orissa, also increased the retired age is 65 years. This system is already implemented in central universities.

31% posts of faculty lying vacant

Nearly 31% of the posts of teachers in UP colleges are vacant. Of the 2182 posts in 16 State Universities, 691 posts are vacant. In 331 government-assisted degree colleges, out of 15763, 4320 posts are vacant, and in 158 state degree colleges, out of 2750 posts, 867 vacancies are there. Many teachers are retiring in universities this year too. In such a way, the lack of teachers is difficult for the students.

Former state president had raised demand

Writing a letter to the Chief Minister on behalf of BJP’s former State President Laxmikant Bajpai, the demand was made to increase the retirement age to 65 years.
