Chief Secretary Smt Radha Raturi approved the proposal for the construction of 8.2 km long canal covering from Panchakki Square to Kamaluwaganja in Kaladhungi of Nainital district in the meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee held in the Secretariat. The population of Chauphala, Kathgharia, Kamaluwaganja, Ghuni, Bhagwanpur and Ramni will be benefited by increasing the width of the road due to the covering and strengthening of this canal. Chief Secretary Smt Radha Raturi has given instructions to complete this scheme in a timely manner while maintaining the quality of construction. The construction period of the scheme has been proposed to be 12 months. The cost of the scheme is Rs 1245.64 lakh. The Chief Secretary has given instructions to pay special attention to ground water recharge and plantation during the construction of the project.

CS Smt Raturi said that by covering the canal and widening the road from Coltax-Panchakki to Chaufula-Kathghariya, this road will work as a 2 lane bypass. As a result, it will prove useful for the passengers going from Nainital to Delhi/Dehradun via Bajpur/Ramnagar, Corbett National Park. This can reduce the traffic density of Haldwani city.

Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Additional Secretary Dr. Ahmed Iqbal, Shri Vineet Kumar and officials of Public Works Department and Irrigation Department were present in the meeting.
