Rivers, drains in full spate as heavy rains lash Haldwani

After the rain late Thursday night in Haldwani, Kalsia drain overflowed. Seeing the conditions like cloudburst, people came out of their houses and started looking for a safe place.

Seeing the danger, the police administration team reached the spot and evacuated residents of more than 20 houses on the banks of the drain. A bullet bike reportedly got washed away in the drain near the GST office late at night. The bike was recovered, but the youth has not been found yet.

Due to heavy rains in the mountains, Kalsia drain often overflows. More than 60 families are living under the bridge. People are at risk during the rains, so the administration had already given notices to the people to vacate the house, but people were not ready to leave the house.

On receiving the information, City Magistrate AP Vajpayee, SDM Paritosh Verma, Tehsildar Sachin Kumar, Kathgodam SO Vimal Mishra and Chowki Incharge Firoz Alam started rescue work. People have been given shelter in the Inter College.

Heavy rain in the lake city

Heavy rain fell in Nainital on Thursday afternoon. The water level of Naini lake has reached 8.5 feet. The fog continues to come and go in the city. On the other hand, according to the Disaster Control Room, traffic remained closed on 14 rural roads in the district on Thursday.
