Government scraps per day 2000 entry limit in Uttarakhand

There will be no restriction on the arrival of individuals from other states in Uttarakhand. The government has scrapped the entry limit for 2000 persons per day from Saturday. It will be mandatory for those entering the state to get e-registration and give a negative report of the corona investigation 72 hours prior to their arrival.

Chief Secretary Omprakash informed that the state government has taken this step in view of the instructions of the Union Home Ministry. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla sent a letter to the Chief Secretaries of all the states on August 22, objecting to any ban on the movement of individuals in the interstate and within the state.

The state government scrapped the system of limiting interstate movement after a week. Earlier, the system of allowing entry of only two thousand persons per day was applicable without conducting RT-PCR check of Corona. Additionally all the District Magistrates were authorized to allow up to 50 emergency cases. This exempted senior citizens, pregnant women, children, workers working in industries, workers, ministers, legislators, MPs, bureaucrats and industry consultants.

SA Murugeshan, Secretary in charge of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department, has issued orders in this regard to the top officials of the government along with the commissioners, district magistrates and superintendents of police of both the divisions. Under this, those coming from other states will have to compulsorily register on the smart city portal website smartcitydehradun.uk.gov.in. No e-pass or any other permission will be required. The documents sought for registration will be verified at the border check post.

On August 22, the Central Government had issued a guide line to all states to simplify inter-state movement. States were asked to abolish the obligation of registration for out-of-state and in-state movement. Along with this, the system of separate permits, e-passes etc. was also ended.
