Shubman Gill’s start as captain in Test cricket has been nothing less than a dream. The young Indian captain demonstrated his leadership ability by scoring a brilliant century against hosts England on the first day of the second Test being played at Edgbaston, this was his second century as Test captain and seventh Test century overall.
Gill had earlier scored a century in the Headingley Test and now he has achieved a special feat by scoring consecutive centuries in his first two Test matches as skipper. Gill has now joined the select Indian captains who have scored centuries in two consecutive Test matches against England.
Third consecutive century against England
Shubman Gill has scored his third consecutive century against England, becoming the fourth Indian batsman to do so. Gill scored 147 runs in the first innings of the Headingley Test, before this he scored 110 runs in the match played in Dharamsala. Earlier, Mohammad Azharuddin, Dilip Vengsarkar and Rahul Dravid have scored centuries in 3 consecutive matches against England.
Apart from this, Shubman Gill has entered the club of Virat Kohli, Vijay Hazare and Sunil Gavaskar by scoring centuries in his first two Test matches as captain.

Captain Shubman Gill is playing after scoring 114 runs in 216 balls and Ravindra Jadeja is playing after scoring 41 runs in 67 balls. There has been a partnership of 99 runs between the two for the sixth wicket. Rishabh Pant, who scored a century in both the innings in the first Test, scored 25 runs in 42 balls while Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was selected in place of Shardul Thakur, could score only one run. Both the batsmen were out in the last session. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 87 runs in 107 balls with the help of 13 fours.
