IPL 2025: RCB creates history, becomes second team to achieve this feat

Batting first in the match played at Wankhede on Monday, RCB scored 221 runs, Virat Kohli (67) and Rajat Patidar (64) played brilliant half-century innings. In reply, Mumbai Indians could only score 209 runs, the credit for which also goes to Josh Hazlewood and Krunal Pandya who bowled the last 2 overs. With this victory, RCB has created history in IPL, it has become the second team to defeat CSK, MI and KKR in their home ground in the same season.

Mumbai Indians needed 28 runs in 12 balls to win. Hardik Pandya and Naman Dheer were batting, from here Mumbai’s victory seemed easy but Josh Hazlewood turned the match around by dismissing Hardik on the very first ball of the 19th over. He gave only 9 runs in this over. 19 runs were needed in the last over and the captain handed the ball to spinner Krunal Pandya, he too did not disappoint and took control of the match by taking 2 wickets on the first 2 balls of the over. He dismissed Santner on the first ball and Deepak Chahar on the second. In this over, Krunal also dismissed Naman Dheer and RCB won the match by 12 runs.

RCB created history

RCB has become the second team in IPL history to defeat Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk and Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in the same season. That is, RCB has become the second team to defeat all three big teams in their home ground in the same season. Earlier in 2012, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) had done this.

Under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, RCB started the season with a win over KKR. In the first match, it defeated KKR by 7 wickets at Eden Gardens Stadium. In the second match, RCB defeated Chennai Super Kings by 50 runs at Chepauk Stadium. After losing to Gujarat in the third match, the team defeated Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in its fourth match on Monday. It has become the second team in IPL history to defeat these teams on their home ground in a season.
