IPL 2025: These 4 teams qualify for the playoffs
After 63 matches of the group stage were over in IPL 2025, the 4 teams who have made it through to the playoffs have been decided. On Wednesday, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals to confirm the last playoff spot. This made Delhi the sixth and last team to be eliminated. Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings had already qualified for the final 4 spot.
Delhi out, Mumbai in playoffs
On Wednesday, Mumbai batted first at the Wankhede Stadium and scored 180 runs. Delhi had lost 5 wickets for 65 runs, from here the team could score only 121 runs and lost the match by 59 runs.
Delhi suffered its sixth defeat in 13 matches. The team has 13 points from 6 wins and 1 inconclusive match. DC will now be able to reach only 15 points even after winning the last match against Punjab, which is not enough to reach the playoffs.
Mumbai got the 8th win in 13 matches. The team finished fourth with 16 points and reached the playoffs. Now if MI has to make it to the top-2 position, then it will have to win the last match against Punjab. Also, it will have to hope that RCB and GT lose all the matches.
GT can strengthen its position at the top
In IPL, Gujarat Titans will play against Lucknow Supergiants. Gujarat is at the top with 18 points from 9 wins and 3 losses in 12 matches. By winning today’s match, the team will strengthen its position at the top with 20 points. GT will then have to win the last match against Chennai to remain at number-1 on its own.
Lucknow can spoil Gujarat’s game
Lucknow Supergiants are out of the playoffs. The team has only 10 points from 5 wins in 12 matches. By winning today’s match, LSG will not reach the playoffs, but it will reduce Gujarat’s chances of remaining at number 1.
Sai Sudarshan top scorer
Gujarat’s Sai Sudarshan remains the top scorer of the tournament. He has scored 617 runs in 12 matches. Shubman Gill is at second place with 601 runs. On Wednesday, Mumbai’s Suryakumar Yadav reached third place by scoring 73 runs. His score now stands at 583 runs.
Prasidh top wicket taker
Gujarat’s fast bowler Prasidh Krishna remains the top wicket taker of the tournament. He has 21 wickets in 12 matches. Chennai’s spinner Noor Ahmed also has 21 wickets. Mumbai’s Trent Boult reached third place with 19 wickets.
