Team India squad announced for women T20 World Cup 2024
Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is to be held in UAE and now the 15 member squad of Indian women’s team has been announced for this. Harmanpreet Kaur has been made the captain of the team. Smriti Mandhana has got the responsibility of vice-captaincy. Young and experienced players have got a chance in the team. Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 was earlier to be held in Bangladesh. But in view of the political tension, the ICC has decided to get it done in UAE instead of Bangladesh.
Playing will depend on the fitness of Shreyanka and Yastika
Two wicketkeepers have got a chance in the team. This includes Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh. At the same time, injury clouds are looming over the participation of Shreyanka Patil and Yastika Bhatia in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024. Because Shreyanka had a finger fracture in the match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup and due to this she was out of the Asia Cup. On the other hand, Yastika was included in the Indian team for the Bangladesh tour. But she got injured in the first match. Now Shreyanka and Yastika’s playing in T20 World Cup 2024 will depend on their fitness.
For the T20 World Cup, the burden of batting of the Indian team will largely be on Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Shefali Verma and Jemima Rodriguez. These players have previously won many matches for Team India on their own. The Indian women team has not yet won the T20 World Cup title. Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian team reached the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. But lost to Australia in the final.
