Women’s World Boxing Championships: After Nikhat & Neetu, Lovlina also reaches final

Indian boxers continue to perform brilliantly in the Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023. Nikhat Zareen and Neetu Ghanghas have made it to the finals. In the 50 kg weight category, Nikhat Zareen defeated Ingrid Valencia of Colombia in the semi-final match. On the other hand, Neetu Ghanghas defeated Alua Balkibekova of Kazakhstan. Apart from these two, Lovlina Borgohain also reached the finals. She defeated China’s Li Qian in the semi-finals of the 75 kg category.

At least four Indian boxers have assured themselves of medals in this competition. Nikhat, Neetu & Lovlina have assured themselves of at least a silver medal by making it to the finals. Neetu Ghanghas is competing in 48kg, Nikhat Zareen in 50kg, Lovlina Borgonhain in 75kg and Sweety Boora in 81kg.

These players are out

India’s Sakshi Chaudhary had lost in the quarterfinals of the 52kg category and was eliminated from the competition. While 2022 bronze medalist Manisha Moun lost to France’s Amina Zidani in the quarterfinals of the 57kg category. Jasmine lost in the 60kg category, while Nupur was beaten 4-3 by Kazakhstan’s Lazzat kungeibayeva in the over 81kg category. All of them have been eliminated from the competition with bout defeats.
