Schools to remain closed in these districts of Uttarakhand on August 14

Rains continue to lash Uttarakhand. For the past one week, it has been raining heavily in different districts of the state. Today also, there was heavy rain forecast in 13 districts of the state. Meanwhile, in view of the possibility of heavy rain issued by the Meteorological Department, Dehradun, a one-day holiday has been declared by the administration in all public and private schools from class 1 to 12 as well as all Anganwadi centers in Udham Singh Nagar, Pithoragarh, Champawat and Uttarkashi districts tomorrow, Thursday i.e. 14th August, 2025.

Red, orange and yellow alerts have been issued warning of heavy to very heavy rains across the state. From Wednesday (August 13) to Thursday (August 14), red alert will be in force in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Bageshwar districts. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected at some places and extremely heavy rain at some places. Heavy to very heavy rain has been predicted in some districts under orange alert. Officials have been instructed to monitor traffic, share timely updates and ensure emergency preparedness.
