Amidst the scorching heat, the electricity demand figure in the state was estimated at 5.9 crore units on Friday also. Meanwhile, at some places there were cuts due to local reasons.
Even on Friday, the electricity demand figure was estimated at 5.9 crore units. In comparison, about five crore units of electricity is available. UPCL Director Operations MR Arya said, with the purchase of about 70 lakh units of electricity from the market, smooth supply is being provided across the state.
The electricity demand for Saturday was estimated at 59.4 MU. The highest demand so far was pegged at 57.9 MU for Friday. At present, power generation in the state, despite reaching 17.84 MU, is far away from the demand.
The Energy Corporation released the details of the proposed demand for electricity for Saturday on Friday evening. As the electricity demand for Saturday reached 59.4 MU, the problems of the Energy Corporation management increased. By mobilizing power from various sources, the availability was increased to 50.40 MU. To meet the shortfall, 7.61 MU electricity was procured from energy exchange. The remaining 1.45 MU power will be sourced from the real time market.
