Chardham Yatra 2024: Doors of Gangotri to close on this date

The auspicious time for closing the doors of the world famous Gangotri Dham for the winter season has been decided. The doors of Gangotri Dham will be closed on November 2, 2024 at 12:14 pm. After the doors are closed, devotees from the country and abroad will be able to worship Goddess Ganga at her winter residence Mukhimath (Mukhawa). The doors of Yamunotri Dham will be closed on November 3 on the occasion of Bhai Dooj.

The auspicious time for closing the doors of Gangotri Dham was decided by the pilgrimage priests on the auspicious occasion of Navratri. After which the officials of the temple committee also formally announced the auspicious date and time for closing the doors.

Gangotri Temple Committee Secretary Suresh Semwal said that the doors of Gangotri Dham are closed on the occasion of Annakoot.

After the ritual worship, the palanquin (Utsav Doli) will be taken out of the temple premises. After which the Doli will depart for Mukhawa. The procession will stay overnight at Chandeshwari Devi Temple (Makendeya Temple). On 3 November morning, it will depart from the temple for Mukhwa as per rituals. .
