Chardham Yatra 2024: Lab started for health checkup of devotees aged above 50

Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that health check-up of devotees above 50 years of age coming for Chardham Yatra is being done. For the first time on the yatra route, Cath Lab was started in Government Medical College, Srinagar.

On Tuesday, officials and members of Dehradun chapter of Secretariat Public Relations Society of India met Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar. On this occasion, the Secretary said that the increasing number of pilgrims in Chardham Yatra has emerged as a challenge. In such a situation, the Health Department is providing various facilities to the devotees including health check-up. He said that last year during the Yatra period, health check-up of about seven and a half lakh people above 55 years of age was done.

44 specialist doctors included

This time our aim is to conduct maximum health checkups of people above 50 years of age. He informed that this time 184 doctors have been deployed on the Yatra route. Whereas last year 140 doctors were deployed. These include 44 specialist doctors. Along with the doctors deployed in the yatra, arrangements for honorarium were made to the para medical staff through NHM. Health guidelines for Chardham Yatra were issued in 11 languages. The SOP has been sent to the secretaries of all the states. For the first time, a medical point has been made in Janaki Chatti.
