First snowfall of the season from Chardham to Dhanaulti
The mood of the weather changed in Uttarakhand and the first snowfall has occurred amidst partial clouds. There has been light snowfall on all the four Dhams including Badri-Kedar and the surrounding peaks. Due to which cold winds have started making people shiver in the lower regions as well.
The Meteorological Department has predicted partial to full cloud cover in the state today and light to moderate showers in most areas. Due to which the temperature is likely to fall further. Due to the activation of Western Disturbance, the weather in Uttarakhand has changed and there are chances of rain after about two months.
First snowfall of the season in Kedarnath-Auli
Clouds kept hovering in the mountainous regions since Sunday morning. Along with this, winds kept blowing from the mountain to the plains throughout the day amidst light sunshine. Due to which chill was felt. In the evening, light snowfall started on the high peaks. The first snowfall of the season occurred on Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Harshil, Lokhandi, Auli and other peaks. During this time, severe cold was felt due to cold winds blowing in the lower areas.
There are chances of rain in the plains as well. Also, the minimum temperature is falling rapidly. The night temperature in many areas including Dehradun has reached three degrees Celsius below normal. Whereas, the maximum temperature remains around normal, which is expected to go down further. After October and November remained almost dry in Uttarakhand, now there are chances of rain in the second week of December. Due to which there is hope of getting relief from dry cold in the state.
According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, the latest western disturbance has become active in the state. Due to which clouds are hovering in most areas. Snowfall is reported on the peaks. Due to which there is a possibility of a decrease of one to three degrees Celsius in mercury in most areas.
Snowfall in these places in Mussoorie
After about two months of the departure of monsoon, clouds started gathering in the sky on Friday afternoon, and the chances of rain and snowfall increased. On Sunday morning, the sun shone brightly, but cold winds troubled since morning. After about two o’clock in the afternoon, clouds started gathering in the sky. On Sunday morning, the temperature had dropped to three degrees Celsius. At the same time, light snowfall started at Lal Tibba, Gunhill, Vincent Hill, George Everest at around two o’clock in the morning on Monday.
Showers fell with thunderstorms in Doon at night, cold increased
After two months, the weather finally became kind in Doon. After light winds throughout the day, clouds camped late in the evening. After this, strong winds started blowing in most areas of the city at around nine in the night. Along with this, light to moderate showers occurred. Due to thunderstorms and showers in many areas of Doon, the mercury took a dive. Due to which the night was very cold. According to the weather department, Doon may have partly cloudy sky and light showers today. Due to which the mercury is also expected to fall by up to two degrees Celsius.
