Government scouting for astro tourism destinations in Uttarakhand

To attract tourists from the country and the world interested in astronomical activities, the tourism department of Uttarakhand is looking for new places for astro tourism. For this, possibilities are being seen in astro tourism in Gunji of Pithoragarh and Jadung of Uttarkashi district.

At present, Astro Villages have been developed in Takula and Devasthanam of Nainital district and Benital of Chamoli district. Where tourists coming from the country and the world are enjoying the view of twinkling stars in the sky in a secluded environment.

The number of religious tourists is increasing continuously every year in Uttarakhand. In view of this, the state government is promoting new tourism activities. This will create employment opportunities at the local level. Along with this, the economy of the state will increase. Most of the pilgrims in the state come to Chardham from other states. But after darshan, they return back. But for astro tourism, some tourists come to spend some moments in solitude from astronomical activities and the hustle and bustle of the city. The possibility of building Astro Villages is being seen in Gunji and Jadung, the border areas of the state. Apart from this, the tourism department is promoting astro tourism through Nakshatra Sammelan.

Nakshatra Sammelan will be held in Jageshwar in October

The tourism department has released a calendar for Nakshatra Sammelan to promote astro tourism. In which Nakshatra Sammelan will be organized at different places in the state throughout the year and promotion will be done. Nakshatra Sammelan will be organized in Jageshwar from 4 to 6 October and in Bhimtal from 8 to 10 November.

Tourism Minister, Satpal Maharaj said that Work is being done to make Uttarakhand a destination for astro tourism. Tourists from the country and the world should come to Uttarakhand to see the celestial activities. For this, Astro Tourism Village is being promoted.’
