GSI report: Uttarakhand in top 3 in landslides zones in India
The number of landslide zones in Uttarakhand is continuously increasing. The situation is such that Uttarakhand is among the top 3 states in terms of landslides even at the national level. The landslide zones remain a big concern for the state.
There are many areas in Uttarakhand, which remain a concern for the government every year during the monsoon. Although there is a long history of natural disasters here, the problem is that every monsoon a new area gets identified as a landslide. The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has also identified such landslide zones at the national level.

Uttarakhand rank in the country in terms of landslide zones
Statistics show that there are 14,780 landslide areas in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand ranks third in the country in terms of landslide areas. Apart from this, there are 26,213 landslide zones in Arunachal Pradesh, which ranks first. Similarly, Himachal Pradesh ranks second, with 17,102 landslide zones. Talking about Uttarakhand, GSI conducted a geological survey of a total area of 39,009 square kilometers in Uttarakhand. 14,780 landslide areas have been found in this.
