Heavy rains forecast in Uttarakhand for next 4-5 days

Heavy rains in the mountains have created dangerous conditions in many areas. Rescue operations are still going on in the affected areas of Dharali and surrounding areas of Uttarakhand. More than 1300 people have been rescued till now. But now the Meteorological Department has once again issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rains in some areas of the hill state.
Life has been affected by the intermittent rains in Uttarakhand. Most areas including Dehradun received heavy rains in the last 24 hours. Very heavy rains are expected at some places in Bageshwar on Monday (August 11). Heavy rains are expected at some places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri and Nainital districts. There may be intense to very intense spells of rain with thunder and lightning in all the districts of the state.
Orange and red alerts have been issued in Uttarakhand on August 13 and 14. There is a warning of heavy rain in Bageshwar, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat districts. Thunderstorms will continue from 14 to 16 August. People have been advised to stay away from hilly and slippery areas.

Rudranath Dham Yatra stopped in Chamoli
In view of the heavy rain alert in Chamoli, the journey to Valley of Flowers and Rudranath Dham has been stopped. The district administration has appealed to tourists and pilgrims not to travel during the rain. The movement of tourists beyond Ghangaria, the base camp of Valley of Flowers, has been halted for the time being. At the same time, the District Magistrate has banned all the trekking roads of the district till August 15 in view of the weather alert.
