Rains forecast in Uttarakhand till September 14

Monsoon is in its last phase in Uttarakhand. But before its departure, the strong spells of rains are expected in the hilly districts of the state. The Meteorological Center has issued an orange and yellow alert for heavy to very heavy rains in the hilly districts of the state from 11 to 14 September. At the same time, meteorologists have instructed that in sensitive areas, be cautious during the day as well as at night.

According to the alert issued by the Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of torrential rain in some areas of Haridwar, Uttarkashi and Tehri districts today (Wednesday). An orange alert has been issued for Bageshwar district of Kumaon division. There is also a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains with strong thunder. A yellow alert for heavy rains has been issued in some areas of Dehradun, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Champawat and Pithoragarh districts.

More than 33 mm of rain fell in an hour

The problem of waterlogging was seen at many places due to torrential rains in the capital Dehradun on Tuesday. The situation was such that more than 33 mm of rain fell in an hour, which is 20 percent more than the normal rainfall. Vikasnagar received the highest rainfall of 59 mm. While Dehradun city received 39.5 mm, Mohkampur received 33.1 mm and Karanpur area of the city received 19.5 mm of rain.

The official date of departure of monsoon in Uttarakhand is 15 September. Before this, there are chances of heavy rain in some places in the plains along with the hilly districts of the state. People living in sensitive areas need to be more vigilant till 14 September. The meteorological department has advised to avoid traveling unless necessary in the hill areas.
