The Delhi government argued to CAQM that there is a flaw in the existing system and it is not practical and logical at the moment. After which CAQM has taken this decision in today’s meeting.
This rule came into force on 1 July 2025
The matter of confiscating old vehicles (10 year old diesel and 15 year old petrol) in Delhi was started for air pollution control. Under this policy implemented from July 1, 2025, 80 vehicles were seized on the first day, of which 67 were two-wheelers. A joint drive was launched by Delhi Police, Traffic Police, and Transport Department to stop the dispensing of fuel at petrol pumps and seize it on the roads.
