Uttarakhand government declares holiday on Igaas festival

The government declared a holiday on the folk festival Igaas, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave information by tweeting. He tweeted on Thursday evening, now a holiday on ‘Igaas’, a symbol of Uttarakhand’s rich folk culture. Our aim is that we all celebrate this festival with great pomp and show, and our new generation will also be attached to our traditional festivals.

However, the mandate for the holiday of Igaas holiday Uttarakhand has not been issued yet. There is a tradition of celebrating Igaas festival or old Diwali 11 days after Deepawali i.e. Bagwal festival in the mountain. Igaas is associated with mountain culture as well as historical facts.
