Uttarakhand monsoon 2025 causes biggest economic loss since Kedarnath tragedy

The year 2025 has proved to be very frightening for Uttarakhand. This year, it has been estimated that the state of Uttarakhand has suffered a loss of more than Rs 5 thousand crore due to natural disaster. After the terrible disaster in Kedarnath in the year 2013, the state has suffered the most economic loss due to nature’s fury in the year 2025. The Disaster Management Department had sought loss reports from all the departments and districts. In such a situation, the Disaster Management Department has compiled the reports of losses received from the departments and districts. At the same time, the team formed by the Government of India to assess the damage is going to reach Uttarakhand next week.
Due to the adverse geographical conditions of Uttarakhand, disaster-like conditions have been created. Especially during the monsoon season, the conditions become very serious in all the areas of the state. In such a situation, Uttarakhand suffers a lot of economic loss every year due to natural disaster. The year 2025 has suffered the biggest economic loss after the year 2013. According to the information received from the Disaster Management Department, in the year 2025, so far there has been an economic loss of more than Rs 5000 crore. Its report has almost been prepared. Soon its memorandum will be prepared and sent to the Government of India. So that financial help can be provided by the Government of India.
So far this year, cloudburst and excessive rainfall in Uttarkashi, Pauri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and other districts has caused an estimated loss of over rupees five thousand crores. Looking at the situation created by the rain in the state, the figure of loss may increase. A report of assessment of loss is being prepared at the district level through DM.
