The monsoon session of the Assembly, which began on August 19, 2025 at Bhararisain in Gairsain, the summer capital of Uttarakhand, has been adjourned indefinitely on the second day, August 20.
All nine bills were passed amid heavy uproar in the Uttarakhand Assembly on Wednesday. Along with this, the House also passed a supplementary budget of Rs 5315 crore. During the session, the House was adjourned several times due to opposition uproar, but important bills were passed amid the proceedings.
The four-day monsoon session of the Assembly was ended in one and a half days. During this, the Uttarakhand Minority Bill was passed in the House, after which an authority will be formed for all minority communities. This authority also cleared the way for madrasas to get recognition.
Apart from this, the Uniform Civil Code Amendment Bill was also passed. Under the new provisions, the punishment for those living in live-in-relationships in an illegal manner has been increased. The amended strict conversion law was also passed in the House. Now there will be a provision for punishment up to life imprisonment for forced conversion.
During the session, Congress staged a fierce protest. Independent MLA Sanjay Dobhal also joined the protest with the opposition MLAs.
