Uttarakhand rains: Schools in these districts to remain closed on Sep 2

There seems to be no relief from the rain that has been causing havoc in Uttarakhand for a few more days. The mountainous districts are the most affected by the rain. In many districts, rivers and streams have overflowed due to the rain. While incidents of landslides are being recorded which have damaged roads in the mountains. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for rain in some districts and an orange alert in some districts for the next 24 hours. In such a situation, orders have been given for holiday in schools and Anganwadi centers in some districts on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Holiday orders in these districts on September 2

Due to the possibility of rain, the Pithoragarh, Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Rudraprayag, Pauri Garhwal, Bageshwar, Uttarkashi and Chamoli district administrations have ordered to keep government, non-government, private schools and Anganwadi centers from class 1 to 12 closed on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Red Alert for rains

The Meteorological Center Dehradun has predicted extremely heavy rains at some places in Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal, Haridwar, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar districts of the state, along with heavy to very heavy rains and lightning at some places in Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal, Haridwar, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar districts. Whereas, heavy to very heavy rains and lightning are expected at some places in Uttarkashi district. In such a situation, a red alert for rain has been issued in these districts.

Chardham and Hemkund Sahib Yatra halted

On the other hand, on the forecast of heavy rains in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts of the Meteorological Department in the coming days, the Chamoli District Administration has banned the Yatra of Badrinath Dham and Hemkund Sahib and the Rudraprayag District Administration has banned the Yatra of Kedarnath Dham for a few days. According to the information, the Chamoli District Administration has banned both the Yatras with immediate effect from September 1 to September 5.
