Uttarakhand records more than expected rains in 1st week of July

Although this time the monsoon arrived late in Uttarakhand, but since the beginning of July 2024, it has been raining heavily across the state. As per the data of the Meteorological Department, the entire state has received more than 100 percent of the normal rainfall. The highest rainfall occurred in Bageshwar district of Kumaon. Here 271.5 mm of rain fell in a week, which is 453 percent more than normal.

However, there are some districts in the state where very little rain fell. The least rainfall in the entire state occurred in Haridwar district. Here 79.9 mm of rain fell, which is 56 percent more than normal. Talking about Dehradun, from June 30 to July 6, 223 mm of rain has occurred in the district, which is 200 percent more than normal rainfall.

Talking about the coming days, there is a possibility of heavy rain across the state till July 10. The Meteorological Center has issued a red and orange alert of rain across the state on July 7. Whereas a yellow alert for heavy rain and thunder has been issued across the state from July 8 to 10.
