Uttarakhand weather: Temperature drops due to rain in the plains and snowfall on the mountains

The weather changed again in Uttarakhand from Saturday. While there was rain and snowfall in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand, there was light rain at some places in the plains as well. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand till February 6.

On Saturday, 5 mm rainfall was recorded in Harshil, 4.5 mm in Janaki Chatti and 3 mm in Ranichuri. Meteorological Director Dr. Bikram Singh said that there is a possibility of snowfall along with rain on February 4 and 5. Snowfall may occur in areas at altitude above 2200 meters.

Yellow alert has been issued for Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts. There is a possibility of rain in the plains. Light to moderate rain and snowfall may occur in some areas at altitude above 3000 meters on February 6, after which the weather is expected to remain clear for a week.

This is the second good snowfall in the first week of February. The weather has become quite cold due to rain and snowfall. On the other hand, Gangotri and Yamunotri highways, which were closed due to snowfall in Uttarkashi district, have been opened for traffic. However, the roads have become slippery due to snowfall, due to which traffic has become risky.
