Uttarakhand weather update: Heavy rain alert for next 2 days

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in Uttarakhand. A warning has been given to remain alert for the next 24-48 hours. Orange alert has been issued in Kumaon of Uttarakhand and Yellow alert in Garhwal.

A yellow alert of rain has been issued in most of the districts of Garhwal and the capital Dehradun. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to remain alert in view of the rain. Also warned to avoid going near rivers and streams.

Heavy rain is expected in four districts of the state. The Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain with strong thunder in some parts of Pauri, Champawat and Nainital districts including Dehradun.

Apart from this, there are chances of several rounds of heavy rain in some areas of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Meteorologists say that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the plains as well as the hilly districts across the state in the next three to four days.

Yamunotri Highway remained closed for one and a half hours

Due to late night rain in the surrounding area including Yamunotri Dham, Yamunotri Highway was closed in the morning due to debris and boulders in Ojri-Dabarkot. For safety reasons, vehicles were stopped on both sides. After about one and a half hours, the debris was removed and the movement of vehicles was resumed.
