Uttarakhand weather update: Heavy rains forecast in last week of June

After the pre-monsoon rains in Uttarakhand, the weather is expected to be rainy for the next few days. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rains from 24 to 30 June in various districts of the state next week. Due to this, pilgrims especially on the Chardham Yatra have been advised to be extra cautious. Along with this, an orange alert for three days of heavy rain has been issued in four districts of Kumaon division.

Bikram Singh, Director General of Meteorological Department Dehradun, said that an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rains has been issued in most of the districts of the state on 27, 28 and 30 June next week. During this time, there is a possibility of light to heavy landslides in the mountains. This can also affect the roads. In such a situation, especially the pilgrims going on the Chardham Yatra have been advised to be cautious as per the forecast. There is a possibility of damage due to rising water level in rivers and waterlogging in roads etc. at some places.

Apart from this, kutcha houses may also be damaged due to rain and lightning etc. Similarly, an orange alert has been issued for heavy rains in four districts of Kumaon division, namely Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar from June 24 to June 26 and on June 29. During this time, there will be a possibility of light landslides and falling of stones in sensitive areas. Due to this, roads may get blocked at some places. Problems like waterlogging etc. may also be faced at many places.

The southwest monsoon is likely to reach Uttar Pradesh in the next three to four days. After this, the monsoon will enter Uttarakhand. According to the information released by the Meteorological Department, the monsoon will reach the North Arabian Sea, some parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and some parts of Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh in the next four days.
