According to the Meteorological Department, rain will begin in various districts across the state from October 3rd. Light to moderate rain is expected on October 3rd and 4th. This rain is likely to occur in the mountainous districts. On the other hand, very light rain is expected in the plains. After this, some effects of the western disturbance will be visible in the state on October 5th. During this period, light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, and Dehradun districts. Lightning and strong winds are also expected in these districts on October 5th. Strong winds can reach speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
Possibility of very heavy rain in these districts
Similar light to moderate rain will occur at many places across the state on October 6th and 7th. Snowfall is also possible in high altitude areas, especially those at altitudes of 4,000 meters or higher. For October 6th alone, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli districts. Heavy snowfall is also possible in some areas. Lightning, hailstorms, and strong winds are also possible during this period.
Possibility of snowfall in high altitude areas
Heavy to very heavy rain is likely in Haridwar district on October 6th. Similarly, heavy rain is expected in all the hilly districts and plains of the state on October 7. Heavy snowfall will also occur in higher elevations during this time.
