Voting begins for the second phase of panchayat elections in Uttarakhand

The voting process for the second phase of Uttarakhand three-tier panchayat elections has started from 8 am today (July 28). Voters in many districts are going to vote amidst rain alert. Voting for the second phase of panchayat elections will continue till 5 pm.

Voting for panchayat elections is to be held in 40 development blocks of the state today. In the second phase of panchayat elections, 1998 candidates are contesting for 933 posts of member gram panchayat, 7833 candidates for 2726 posts of Pradhan Gram Panchayat, 4214 candidates for 1225 posts of member area panchayat, and 716 candidates for 14 posts of member district panchayat. A total of 14,761 candidates are participating in the elections across the state and a total of 21 lakh voters will exercise their franchise.

Enthusiasm for voting among voters

On the occasion of voting in the second phase of Panchayat elections, a lot of enthusiasm is being seen among the voters. Heavy deployment of police has been done at all the centers to prevent any untoward incident in the voting and to conduct the voting peacefully everywhere. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in many districts of the state today, which can slow down the pace of the voting process.

Voting has started today in Champawat, Barakot, Vin, Moonakot, Berinag, Gangolihat, Haldwani, Ramnagar, Salt, Syalde, Bhikiyasain, Hawalbagh, Dwarahat, Rudrapur, Kashipur, Jaspur, Bhimtal, Kotabagh, Dunda, Chinyalisaur, Bhatwadi, Pokhri, Dasholi, Nandanagar, Karnaprayag, Gairsain, Kirtinagar, Devprayag, Narendranagar, Chamba, Doiwala, Raipur, Sahaspur, Yamkeshwar, Jayharikhal, Dugadda, Dwarikhal, Pauri, Kot and Kaljikhal development blocks of the state.
