Many countries restrict flights to India as Corona cases continue to rise

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on Thursday that the number of high-risk flights to Covid-19 affected nations, including India, would be reduced. He announced this amid the rapid increase in cases of infection with the corona virus worldwide. After the National Cabinet meeting in Canberra, Morrison said that we have agreed to reduce the number of flights under our chartered services by 30 percent in the coming months.
Amidst the finalization of the list of high-risk countries, Morrison said the announcement was made keeping in mind the second severe wave of corona virus in India. More than 3.14 lakh new cases of corona virus infection were reported in India on Thursday. So far 1,59,30,965 people have been infected with Covid in India.
Britain’s Heathrow Airport has refused to allow additional flights from India before joining the ‘red-list’ on Friday amid growing cases of Coronavirus in India. British Health Minister Matt Hancock said on Monday that this step has been taken after the detection of more than 100 cases of Indian variants in Britain.
The British Health Minister said, ‘We have taken a difficult but important decision to include India in the Red List. This means that anyone who has been living in India for the last 10 days, if he is not a UK or Irish or British citizen, then he cannot come to Britain.’
