Strait of Hormuz Fully Open During Ceasefire: Iran’s Major Announcement
Amidst the ongoing ceasefire between Iran and the United States, Iran has announced the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Making this announcement, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that the Strait of Hormuz would remain “fully open” for the remainder of the ceasefire period.
In a post on X, Araqchi stated that this passage would remain open to all commercial vessels. He explained that ships would traverse a designated safe corridor—pre-determined by Iran’s maritime authority, the Ports and Maritime Organization—to ensure there are no hazards during their voyage. Araqchi added that the safe passage of vessels would be guaranteed during this period to ensure that maritime trade remains unaffected.
In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.

US President reaction
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump also confirmed on social media that the Strait of Hormuz has been fully reopened. In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Iran has just announced that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open and completely ready for transit. Thank you!”
Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire Deal
On Thursday, Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, adding that he is working to facilitate the first-ever meeting between the leaders of the two nations.
Separately, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has reported that India has, thus far, safely evacuated 2,358 of its citizens from Iran. These individuals were transported from Iran to Armenia and Azerbaijan, from where arrangements are being made for their repatriation to India. The Ministry of External Affairs further stated that a special control room has been established to monitor the situation.
