Trump threatens Canada to impose a 100% tariff on deals with China
US President Donald Trump warned Canada on Saturday that if it strikes a trade deal with China, he will impose a 100% tariff on all goods coming across the border. Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, “If Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney thinks he can turn Canada into a ‘drop-off port’ for China, from which China will send goods and products into the United States, he is making a very big mistake.”

Trump also warned Canada on Friday regarding its rejection of the proposed Golden Dome missile defense project in Greenland, saying that China would “swallow them up” within a year. Trump said that his northern neighbor was prioritizing deepening ties with China over US-backed security.
Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Canada is opposing the construction of Golden Dome in Greenland, even though Golden Dome would protect Canada. Instead, they have voted in favor of doing business with China, which will ‘swallow them up’ within a year.”
