CAIT reports bumper sales this Diwali

There was tremendous Diwali shopping in the market this year. According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), an organization of the business community, this year’s business figures broke the sales record of the last 10 years on Diwali and the festive business reached the level of Rs 1.25 lakh crore.

Traders body CAIT said that the Diwali sale ended the economic slowdown that has been going on for the last two years. Buoyed by the strong sales in Diwali business, traders are now gearing up for the wedding season that begins on November 14.

Business worth Rs 25,000 crore in Delhi

CAIT National President BC Bhartia and General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal said that this year’s Diwali festival has an estimated business of around Rs 1.25 lakh crore across the country, which is a record figure in the last decade so far. On the other hand, in Delhi alone, this business was about Rs 25,000 crore.

Jewelery or utensils sold worth Rs 9,000 crore

According to CAIT, the high demand for traditional Diwali items like earthen diyas, paper mache lamps, candles, etc. led to good trade for Indian artisans. Apart from this, the demand for other products like home decor items, sweets, dry fruits, clothes, shoes, watches and toys was also very high. As far as gold jewelery and silver jewelery or utensils are concerned, the sale of 9 thousand crores was done during Diwali 2021. At the same time, packaging items worth Rs 15,000 crore were sold this year.
