Doordarshan cameraman killed in Naxal attack in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh

There area reports of a Naxal attack on the media workers in Aranpur in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. The naxalities attacked on the media team of Doordarshan, on Tuesday morning, in which a cameraman died. Two of the soldiers engaged in their security were also martyred.
According to the information received, the youth were trapped in the encounter from both sides in the forests of Nilwaya in Aranpur police station area. There is news of the martyrdom of two youths, and a media worker. The SP of Dantewada has left for the spot.

Dantewada Additional SP Gorakhnath Baghel confirmed the incident saying that the cameraman was in very critical condition. He was bein taken for first aid when he succumbed to his injuries. According to him, other companies of helicopters and security forces have been dispatched for the spot. There is news of further injuries to local people in this incident in Aranpur.

Many people are reported to be injured. A 111 CRPF battalion has been dispatched for the removal of people from the spot and for every necessary help.

It is being told that the attack happened when a team of Delhi Doordarshan reached alongwith the security forces within the jungle to cover their activities. Naxalites have appealed to the masses to boycott election in this area. They are targeting the activists of all political parties, including journalists.

DIG of Chhattisgarh P. Sundarraj told about the incident that in the Arnapur. He said, ‘the Maoists attacked the patrol party. Two of our security personnel died and a cameraman of Doordarshan was killed. Two other people are injured. ‘
