Amarnath Yatra begins today, first batch leaves; More than 3 lakh registrations so far

The 62-day long Amarnath Yatra for 2023 season began on Saturday. The first picture of the holy cave temple has also come out. Aarti was performed this morning with chanting. A large number of devotees were present during this. The first batch of pilgrims started their journey towards the cave temple. The yatra will end this year on 31 August.

On the first day, the first batch of pilgrims left from the Baltal base camp in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir. The yatra was flagged off by Ganderbal Deputy Commissioner Shyambir along with senior officials of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and Police.

The devotees will travel 12 km from the base camp to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir. The first batch of pilgrims reached the Baltal base camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal on Friday. They were received by the district administration at Kali Mata Temple at Tikri in Udhampur district.

Deputy Commissioner Shyambir said- ‘Today we are sending the first batch of passengers from here. There are about 7 to 8 thousand passengers in it’. Shri Amarnath Shrine Board CEO Mandeep Kumar Bhandari said that till now more than 3 lakh devotees have registered. This is 10% more than last year. Registration is still going on.
