Government warns of lockdown as cases continue to rise in Maharashtra

After the rapid rise in corona cases in Maharashtra and more than 3 thousand infected patients for the seventh consecutive day, the state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray warned on Tuesday that if the public did not follow the rules like masks and social distancing then they should be prepared for another lockdown. In the last one month, the maximum number of 4,092 corona cases were reported on Sunday and 3,663 patients were found on Tuesday. Of these, 461 cases are from Mumbai.

Expressing concern over the increasing negligence of security rules among the people amidst the phasing out of the ban, Uddhav Thackeray said that it is up to the people to decide whether to prevent the corona infection from rising once again through complete lockdown. Thackeray said, “It is up to the people of the state to decide whether they want a lockdown or to live independently with some restrictions.” “Wear a face mask, avoid going into the crowd, otherwise you will have to go into lockdown again. ”

Thackeray has taken stock of the situation through video conferencing with Divisional Commissioners and Collectors, once again with the rise in Corona cases for the last few days. During this, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was also present with him. The CM ordered the administration to ensure compliance of rules like masks, social distancing, and also asked to take action against those who violate them.

According to a statement released from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), during January 4 and February 15, the number of patients undergoing Covid-19 treatment increased in 15 districts. “However, from 9 February to 15 February, the number of such districts increased to 21,” the statement said.

Mumbai’s mayor Kishori Pednekar on Tuesday appealed to the people to follow the corona regulations after Maharashtra and the capital witnessed a surge in corona virus cases in Mumbai. She said that if people did not follow the rules of Covid-19 then the city could go on the path of lockdown again.

She said that freedom was given to open schools in the city, but now the authorities are going to reconsider the matter. She said that if people do not follow the rules then ‘we will have to go towards lockdown again.’
